about

In 2009, the project began with us deciding to get together at each others' studios and record with 2 different setups: one with electric instruments and the other with acoustic. During a couple of sessions in March & April, we made 8 tracks of material with various electric guitars, John's trusted Fender '66 amps and a few of our favorite effects pedals. In June, we brought all our acoustic instruments together - banjos, acoustic guitars, steel guitars, violins and violas - and made another 9 tracks at Kato's studio. After a few months of searching for our next step, Kato suggested an idea to take the tracks and treat them with live processing - we'd play the material through effects pedals and thereby alter the sounds but in a very organic way. Kato's tracks were processed by John and vise versa. We recorded the live processing as another layer of performance.

When we started thinking of editing and mixing, John suggested that we should leave the recordings as honest as possible, without manipulating the integrity of our performance. This idea kept us out of the control mode, during the mixing process, and allowed us to let the music breathe on its own. It took almost 4 years for us to give birth to this project, simply because it took a long time for us to be able to surrender and understand the nature of music. "Amorphous" is the result of our journey through playing together, sharing thoughts and listening together, which brought us to a new and deeply rewarding experience. We hope that our music will bring the audience new discovers and surprises as well!
